Interest in and support for the Sunriver project has been consistently strong. SilverStar Destinations is eager to provide additional details on the project and will do so in future development applications after the Town Center District is approved. In addition, the village project has received the written support of the SROA Board of Directors and the Sunriver Chamber of Commerce.
TESTIMONIALS
We are in the process of redoing our estate planning and recently discussed this with our son. He was interested in how the redevelopment of the village would affect the value of our home. Our son looked at both of us and said, "Mom and Dad, our generation has been raised with technology, money and options and if Sunriver does not provide that when we are ready to retire and move to Sunriver, we well find a place that does! - Dinah Finney
We have an eyesore and here to fore, no developer or owner has had a vision. SilverStar does!! These partners in the development are outstanding Central Oregon property owners themselves with heart and soul of making this keystone for the whole community for Central Oregon and the Northwest. - Dave Lewis
I am a Sunriver home owner of two homes. We have been homeowners for the past 22 years. During that time I have watched the detrimental effects of an uncared for the un-updated commercial core. As a mayor of a small Oregon city (Keizer) I understand the complexity of a zone change and the impact of falling to react to a negative situation because of the objections of a few vocal members of the public. This zone change is critical and necessary to maintain the viability and sustainability of Sunriver. Failure to talk action to support these actions will contribute to a dubious future for Sunriver and potentially diminished property values and taxes for Deschutes County. Sustainability increases with mixed use applications and are the future for all communities in Oregon. Please approve this application for immediate implementation.

Anyone who has spent time in a mixed-use resort village knows that the dynamic environment it creates is more sustainable in a seasonal location. So whatever SilverStar or another party ultimately invests in the refurbishment of our community’s most unique assets, we need a land use zone that will make them successful. Without a successful village redevelopment, we’re going to be left with either the existing village mall facilities, or another unsuccessful facility. The land use zone that has been proposed is the right one for Sunriver, and we are very supportive. – Angela Jacobs
Over the past 10 years we have seen nothing but a slow, continuing decline in the Sunriver Mall. It needs a dramatic new direction! Please support the application filed by SilverStar Destinations to create a new Town Center District in Sunriver, and give it a chance at new life! – Kelly and Terry Halstead
SilverStar’s efforts to rezone the Village Mall are precisely what this community needs. We MUST revitalize the commercial core area of Sunriver if we expect to Sunriver and thrive in the next 20 years.
- Scott Pence
The majority of people in this community are prepared to move forward in support of SilverStar with a positive attitude of cooperation, and I look forward to that happening.
– Jane and Steve Croley
SilverStar has brought us hope for the future of Sunriver, please don’t let a group of people who fear change and want something (a new mall) simply for nothing determine the fate of Sunriver.
– Lynnette Braillard
Fortunately, a group of Central Oregon investors have stated their desire to develop a Village Mall with an eye to the future. They have demonstrated a willingness to work with all parties involved including the Sunriver Owners (represented by the SROA Board), The Resort, Commercial interests, etc.
- John W. and Kathleen Boston
The first step to do that is to acknowledge the economic realities of such a project, and create a land use zone that will attract and encourage rational, balanced development of mixed use facilities that will better serve the year-round business and use patterns of Sunriver that the current Commercial zone can.
– James P. Estes, III
We have observed an enthusiasm within the Sunriver Community with respect to the zoning change that is felt will lead to a revitalization of the Town Center. We are excited with regard to the potentially significant improvements to the Sunriver Town Center and the resultant benefit to the entire community that could result from this proposed amendment. – Steven M. Runner
I've never seen an issue in Sunriver that was so universally supported by residents and visitors. - Michael and Leticia Denies
I can not understand how we can not move forward with the plans that SilverStar has presented to us as homeowners. For someone wanting to take the time and personal resources to improve a long lost mall takes great courage. I have been excited with SilverStar’s presentation since day one. – Dinah Finney
As beautiful as Sunriver is, we have always felt a little disappointed in the mall/village area. We have notice that businesses/restraints are frequently being sold or having difficulty staying in business. We were so excited to hear about the plans to start a construction on the new mall which also helped confirm our desire to purchase a rental/vacation home in Sunriver. – Laura Lorenz
