SILVERSTAR DESTINATIONS
SilverStar Destinations, LLC, based in Bend, Oregon, was formed in 2006 for the purpose of acquiring the Sunriver Village Mall and other property necessary to redevelop and revitalize the community core of Sunriver. SilverStar is led by John Goodman, Managing Director.
SilverStar's founders are all Oregonians, and all have a connection to the Sunriver community - either as homeowners or life-long visitors who have enjoyed family vacations in Sunriver. Their motivation to invest in the future of Sunriver through development of a high-quality, mixed-use village town center, was driven by their appreciation for what makes Sunriver special, and a desire to see Sunriver return to its position of prominence among Pacific Northwest resort communities.
SilverStar's project and management teams are comprised of a combination of local and national talent - combining a respect for the community and region with a deep base of experience in planning, designing and developing successful mixed-use resort communities throughout North America.
"When we started, it was clear that this type of project had been implemented successfully throughout the Western US, but never in Oregon or the Northwest", states Mr. Goodman. "We saw that as a great opportunity, but realized that we would have to 'tap in' to the experience base of professionals that knew how to do it. We have done that, and have assembled what I truly believe is a world-class development company, but with the personal touch of being local and intensely committed to the success of the community."
The company's approach to developing the Village at Sunriver has been to work closely with the stakeholders of Sunriver to insure acceptance, support and success. Through relationships with the SROA, Sunriver Resort, the base of existing commercial operators and the Sunriver community, SilverStar works daily to gain insight and input into the relationships of its project with the larger community within and surrounding the Village. "Our measure of success as a company will be how the community reacts to and supports the new Village at Sunriver," says Goodman. "If we don't serve and service the needs of existing and future residents, business operators, visitors and our other community stakeholders, we will not succeed. We do all we can every day to make sure that won't happen."
